A mega-auction for the IPL 2022 is on, and the cash-rich competition has already produced some nail-biting moments. Because of the deadly pandemic, fans are not included in the stadiums, however, the governing body is not leaving anything to chance in order to make things exciting for the viewers on television or through their mobile devices. Despite this, most IPL fans are already anticipating the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction. Here is a detailed breakdown of the IPL 2022 auction, teams, new regulations, and much more.
What is the date and time of the mega auction for IPL 2022?
As of now, there is no official word out from the BCCI on the dates and times for the 2022 mega auction, but most probably it will happen between December 2021 and January 2022. In general, IPL matches take place between March and May or into the first week of June if necessary.
IPL 2022 will feature new franchises/teams?
To the eight franchises already in place, two more will be added. Earlier this week, BCCI announced the arrival of two new teams. Many news outlets report that Ahmedabad city will be getting one franchise and Lucknow and Kanpur might be getting another.
BCCI recently confirmed that the tender documents for the addition of two new IPL franchises will be released in mid-August.
IPL franchise owners include the Adani Group headquartered in Ahmedabad, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group of Kolkata, and the Torrent Group of Agra.
Two franchises will be added to the IPL teams due to shortlistings by the BCCI. There are some cities in the east zone such as Guwahati, Ranchi and Cuttack, while in the west there are Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
