Where Should You Live?
London is big, with a wide range of different neighborhoods that have completely different vibes to offer, so it’s worth doing some research into which area will suit you best. If you’ve already landed a job before you move, it’s worthwhile looking in that area so you can save on transport costs during the week. If you’ve not yet found work, just go for the vibe that suits you best.
North London is quirky with a lively nightlife scene, so there’s plenty of interesting places for everyone.

West London is fancy, more expensive, and full of designer shops and fine dining options.
Once you’ve decided which area you want to live in, you can now look for rooms to rent in London. With a huge range of real estate on the market, you can choose something that works for you.
Finding a Job
If you move to London without a job, you’ll want to ensure you’ve got enough savings to last you a couple of months. Not having a job for the first few weeks can be a good time to explore and get used to your new surroundings without getting burnt out. There are tons of opportunities in London, so try not to stress about finding work before you move. To ensure you’ve got the best chance when looking for work:
- Spruce up your CV
- Sign up to job sites
- Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date.
The Weather
Another thing to consider if you’re coming from a warm climate, is the weather. Although the weather isn’t always as bad as we’re led to believe, it can be unpredictable. So, it’s best to always apply SPF and carry an umbrella. During certain times of the year, the weather can be nice and warm, and at others, it’ll be gloomy and drizzly for long periods. However, compared to other countries, the weather is not so extreme, so dress accordingly and you’ll be fine.
With your apartment sorted, a new job, and your weatherproof wardrobe at the ready, you’ll be prepared to take on the Big Smoke and enjoy everything this fantastic city has to offer. Since you’re making the move and getting to enjoy the city for more than a week or two, take it slowly to start with so you don’t feel overwhelmed. The city is sure to feel like home in no time.
